The Story George Lucas confirmed that 10 years pass between Episode I and II (Amidala is 24 and Anakin 20). Filming will most likely take place in 20th Century Fox's (name change to 21st Century Fox?) Australia studios. The reason for this is that filming in England has become pretty expensive. Episode II will be around Anakin being a student of the Jedi. He will learn about the force and be trained by Obi-Wan (parallel to Luke). Anakin will also fall in love with Queen Amidala, the future mother of Luke and Leia. Lucas has confirmed this.
George Lucas has confirmed that the Empire will be created at the end of Episode II. This leads to the assumption that since Obi-Wan was a general in the clone wars, and that the Jedi loose all official power with the coming of the empire, the clone wars should occur in Episode II
George Lucas said that the finale would also be a cliffhanger, much like the ending of The Empire Strikes Back. Probably linked to the creation of the Empire
PRODUCTION
Lucas wants to film the entire movie digitally. This means better quality and the ability to process single images in the movie better, resulting in better effects (especially CG ones). The lens are being manufactured by Panavision, the cameras by Sony.
However, filming digitally has its drawbacks, as the cameras are expensive. Therefore, scenes where the camera will be in danger of getting damaged will most likely be filmed using standard film.
Tentative release date is May 2002. The budget should be the same as for Episode I ( million). However, as ILM now has all the digital techniques invented, as well as filming it digitally, might lower the budget.
